Three beautiful picture books by Nancy Tillman Reviewed by Jean Matthew Hall
The threat of an ice/snow storm hangs over us today. So, before the storm was due to hit I headed for one of my favorite places—the library! I knew that I didn’t want to spend a weekend snowed in alone. And what better companions than a tall stack of picture books and some hot herbal teas?
I managed to find three beautiful books by Nancy Tillman: I’d Know You Anywhere, My Love was published in 2013; The Crown on Your Head was published in 2011; and On the Night You Were Born was published in 2006—all by Feiwel and Friends (Macmillan).
Tillman’s artwork is stunning! Gentle, quiet, soft, sweet just like her lyric texts. It’s easy to see and hear and feel the theme of these books. Actually, the same theme runs through all of her lucious picture books. It is that YOU ARE SPECIAL, UNIQUE, AND YOU ARE LOVED NO MATTER WHAT.
Tillman’s picture books make lovely gifts for new parents by birth OR by adoption–even for new grandparents. They can provide many tender moments shared by loving parents and their precious children, no matter their ages.
