Writing & Sharing Encouraging Words

An image of...

This weekend I'm heading for California! I'm blessed this year with attending the Mt. Hermon Christian Writers Conference. I'm anticipating good things from the Lord at this event. He told me this is the year for me to (finally!) attend. AND, God provided freelance work to pay for the Conference and my transportation. A double blessing. Please pray with me that God will lead me to connect with the people He has planned for me to meet. I'm hoping to take lots of photos to share with you! Thank you, my friends.

God's Encouraging Words

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5 NKJV

Years ago someone asked me if I pray about EVERYTHING. She was a bit disgusted with me and trying to be insulting at the time. My reply was the same as it is today: I try to. I try to remind myself that I am not wise, but God is. I try to remind myself to STOP, PRAY, then THINK. God gave me a healthy brain so I can think my way through things. But He also gave me the Mind of Christ, so I can think through things the way Jesus would. So, yes, I try to pray about even "small" concerns.

No, I don't ask God whether I should have orange juice or milk with my breakfast. But I do ask Him to remind me to choose healthy food and drink over empty calories. Then, when I decide on juice over milk (or vice versa) I can relax in knowing He has already given me the wisdom to choose what is healthy. (Instead of that yummy chocolate caramel whipped latte that sounds so good!) Why? Because I asked Him for it days or weeks or years ago.

From my viewpoint wisdom is the ability to choose wisely. If I want that ability I must STOP, PRAY (for wisdom) and then THINK.

Picture Book Review - Kate, Who Tamed the Wind
Another Picture Book Review by Jean Matthew Hall featuring 2018 picture books. Kate, Who Tamed the Wind was written by Liz Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Lee White. It fooled me. Judging by the title I thought it would be a nonfiction biography. Not so. Kate is an amazing little girl with brilliant ideas and the gumption to put them …
