Jean's Writing Life

I have finished with my patriotic, rhyming picture book that I call Our Flag is Passing By. Now to send it to a couple of publishers or an agent. This week I am researching agents who might be interested in my work. Having an agent would make my life simpler as a writer. It would mean I submit my manuscripts to one person. They then shop them around to different publishers. Please pray with me that God points me in the right direction.

I'm also polishing two other picture book manuscripts to hopefully send to agents. I believe these books will bless children if and when the Lord directs me to the right people.

My picture book idea about the giant and ancient live oak trees throughout Florida is waiting on more research. I hope to take a "vacation" to Florida in late September. I'll visit my sisters and then hit the road visiting as many notable live oak trees as I can. One of my sisters is joining me for the road trip. She's a veteran camper. Soooooo, I'm going to be camping out with her when we visit various State and National Parks in search of those imposing trees. However, the resurgence of COVID-19 in Florida has me concerned. I'm praying for wisdom as I plan the trip. Should I cancel? Moving it to October might be okay, but will the COVID-19 situation be any better? Again, I ask prayer as I make a wise choice. Staying home will be disappointing, but that's better than contracting COVID-19.
p.s. I'm vaccinated, but...

Lastly, my publisher, Little Lamb Books is releasing a family/kids devotion book titles All God's Creatures. I contributed several of the devotions. The illustrations are adorable and the devos are spiritual and sweet. It's available for pre-order on their website.

I'm super excited about ALL GOD’S CREATURES: 60 DAYS OF DEVOTIONS FOR ANIMAL-LOVING KIDS. I've already ordered some copies. Can't wait until they roll off the presses.

From God's Word

Earthquakes shake Haiti and other parts of the world. Thousands die and ten times that many people are displaced with no medical care, clean water, or shelter. We shake our heads and, hopefully, fall to our knees.

Wildfires rage along the US west coast. Property is destroyed, people die. We send firefighters to the coast and prayers to heaven.

Civil disturbance, violent crime and insane politically-based confusion reigns in America. We march, protest, demand, argue and, hopefully, beg God to bring some common sense and cooperation into our culture.

Afghanistan falls to the Taliban and we start the blame game. I hope we are also praying for God to protect and provide for those Afghanis who helped America during the war and are now trapped. I hope we are praying with anguished tears for those Afghani Christians who will surely face death in the coming days.

The list goes on...

Our world seems to be in the throws of chaos. We can't control it. We can't even fight it most of the time.But we can't just sit back and accept it either. Our choices are to wring our hands or to bend our knees to seek God's messages, God's solutions, God's intervention on our behalf.

He hears. He answers. In His way. In His timing. Selah.

Isaiah 45:6-7 (NIV)
... I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the Lord, do all these things.

Isaiah 45:22-23 (NIV)
Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn,
my mouth has uttered in all integrity
a word that will not be revoked:
Before me every knee will bow;
by me every tongue will swear.

Pray on!
